Athletics Awards The following message is from the Merrillville High School Athletic Department: Parents, this is a reminder that the Spring Sports Banquet will be held at Merrillville High School in the Freshman Cafeteria on Tuesday, May 30th beginning promptly at 6:00pm. Use Entrance I in the back of the school.Your student team member must buy their ticket for $5 in the Athletic Office by 1:00pm on the day of the banquet  if they plan on attending.   Additional tickets for family are still available to purchase for $10.00 each before 1:00 as well. Remember cash or charge is accepted.   Everyone who attends the banquet must have a ticket. We hope to see you at our Spring Sports and Year End Awards Banquet to applaud your student’s participation in sports as a Merrillville Pirate. Thank you.

Grand Awards Congratulations! Your son or daughter has been selected to win an award at the MIS Grand Awards Ceremony.  The ceremony will begin promptly at 8:30 am and last until around 10 am on Wednesday, May 31st and last no longer than an hour and a half.  Please enter at the main entrance.  If you cannot make the ceremony, your child will still come home with the certificate to celebrate with you at home.   We are so proud of your child’s accomplishments!  Be well and have a safe summer!

Athletics Awards The following message is from the Merrillville High School Athletic Department: Parents, you and your Spring Sport Team member are cordially invited to attend the Spring Sports Awards Banquet on Tuesday, May 30th  in the  Merrillville High School Freshman Cafeteria beginning promptly at 6:00pm.You will need to park in the back and enter at Entrance I.  We will be recognizing the participation of all team members in Track, Baseball, Softball, Boys Golf and Girls Tennis.  We will also applaud several year-end Special Award recipients as well as our Unified track members. Vaccinations Parents, Merrillville High School Juniors need to turn in their vaccination record indicating that they have received their second meningitis vaccine no later than May 31rst. The vaccine is available in limited supply through North Shore Teen Clinic in the high school.  You may also go to the Lake County Health Department, any Minute Clinic, or your child’s own physician. 5/16/2017 MHS Yearbooks Attention parents, guardians and students, The Merrillville High School yearbook staff has been working very hard to make a great and memorable yearbook.The book includes all the events and sports from this school year. Yearbook sales are coming to an end and the last day to order at school in May 31st. The cost of the yearbook is $68. Yearbooks can be purchased in school with cash or a money order, stop by Room M108. They can also be purchased online at jostensyearbooks.com with a credit card. Thank you.

Graduation Attention 12th Grade Parents, All Merrillville High School seniors who wish to participate in graduation on June 1, 2017 must attend a mandatory graduation meeting  with Mr. Krutz.  Two meetings are scheduled on Tuesday May 16th.  The first meeting starts at 7:45 a.m. and the second meeting starts at 9:10 a.m. Both meetings will be held in the arena next to the Media Center. Caps and gowns will be delivered for two days:  Tuesday & Wednesday, May 16th & 17th. Jostens will be set up from 10:50 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on both days right outside the Media Center. 2017 Graduation ticket sales also begin on Tuesday, May 16th at the treasurer's window during lunch hours.  Only students who have purchased a cap and gown are eligible to buy 4 tickets at $5.00 each. All students purchasing tickets must have a student ID and only cash will be accepted at this time. Sports Physicals Parents, Merrillville High School Athletics is sponsoring doctor given sports physicals for all students grades 7 through 11 who plan on participating in school sports for the coming summer and school year.  Physicals will be given on Wednesday, May 17th starting at 5:00pm at the high school.    The cost is $20.  Cash only.   Use Entrance S in the front of the high school. All students must have a completed IHSAA sports physical to condition, practice, or try-out for a school sponsored sport in the 2017/2018 school year.   Thank you.

Meningitis Vaccine Parents, All current juniors at Merrillville High School should be in the process of obtaining their second meningitis vaccine.  This is an Indiana State requirement  This vaccine is available through North Shore Clinic at Merrillville High School, or you can go to the Lake County Health Department. You can also take your child to your own physician.  These vaccines are due when your child turns 16 years of age. Vaccine records should be submitted to the high school nurse by May 31st. 04/25/2017 MHS Summer Boot Camp Parents of Junior Students!  Does your child know what he/she needs to do to be successful after graduation?  Do they know how to register for SAT’s and send transcripts to colleges?  Would they like the opportunity to visit local colleges and innovative businesses in the area?  The Pirate SWAG Summer Boot Camp is here to help! If you would like to register your child for one of the sessions this summer, applications are available in the guidance office.  The cost is only $20 and free lunch and transportation home are available.  The application needs to be returned to the guidance office as soon as possible to reserve a spot.  Help your child get a head start for their senior year!

4/22/2017 MHS Parent Teacher Conferences Parents, Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, April 27th from 3:30 until 6:30 PM in the main building Cafeteria and Media Center. Students will be dismissed from school on that Thursday at 1:48 PM. Parents should park in the East Parking lot, and enter through Door F. All report cards will be picked up inside door F. Thank you.

Summer School Parents, This is a message from The Merrillville Community School Corporation regarding Summer School for high school credit courses. Students in grades 8 through 12 that plan to enroll in high school summer classes for credit should pick up an enrollment form at either Pierce Middle School or Merrillville High School. The summer school session will meet from Monday, June 12th through Friday, July 21st. Classes will be $30 per course and registration is open from now until Friday, May 19th. 4/17/2017 CPMS ISTEP TESTING Parents, ISTEP Testing Part 2 has begun at Pierce Middle School. All Pierce students need to be in their testing room promptly at 7:35 am to begin testing. Testing takes place every morning at 7:35 am from now until May 2nd. Please make sure your child gets a good nights sleep and eats a good breakfast. Be aware that cell phones or any electronic devices are not allowed in the testing room, so students are encouraged to leave them at home.Thank you.
