Principal's Message

Michael Megyesi
Fieler Elementary Principal

Dear Fieler Families,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!

I hope that this message finds you and your family in good health. Recent developments have been very challenging for our community as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are living in a time of unprecedented uncertainty. I just wanted to say “Thank You” to our students, parents, teachers and staff for your patience, understanding and perseverance during these trying times. There is much going on with caring for our families, social distancing and living very differently than what we are used to.

Thanks to investments in technology and virtual learning, the academic year is starting Thursday, August 20th. The Fieler journey of discovery and learning that occurs in our classrooms will now continue in virtual learning. We will all persevere and our goal is to successfully complete the first trimester.

To me, what makes Fieler and Merrillville Community School Corporation so incredibly special is our students, teachers, and staff, all committed to supporting our community of excellence. Now more than ever, our community needs to support each other. While we are working remotely, our Fieler staff is committed to continuing to provide the student with the academic resources and instruction that students are accustomed to.

We look forward to welcoming you back in person when this crisis is over. Until then, I offer my thanks and my best wishes for your health and continued success!

"Once a Pirate, Always a Pirate!"

Mr. Megyesi
