Jose Mendez is the full-time social worker at Merrillville Intermediate School. He earned his master's degree in social work from IUN in 2017 with a concentration in mental health and addictions. His previous work includes four years at adolescent inpatient psychiatric unit at St. Margaret Health-Dyer. He enjoys speaking with students and families to learn the best ways to help them. He is bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish
