Merrillville Community School Corporation will use ParentSquare as our corporation-wide global communication tool. We are doing this to help improve communication among all stakeholders.

ParentSquare provides a secure environment for communications. In the event of an emergency or a weather-related school closure, ParentSquare allows us to reach you instantly via text, email, and app notification.
We are a diverse community, and every parent deserves to be a partner in their child's learning. ParentSquare features two-way, real-time translation in over 100 languages. You can receive messages and reply in your preferred language seamlessly.
You will no longer need to check one app for a teacher’s message, another for district alerts, and a third for school lunch menus. ParentSquare brings classroom updates, school newsletters, sign-up sheets, and permission slips into one place.
We respect your "quiet time." With ParentSquare, you can choose how and when you want to be notified. You can opt to receive messages as they happen or receive a single, organized summary of the day’s news.

Access your Account

To log in to your account, download the app via the links below or visit the ParentSquare website at ParentSquare.com/signin.

Enter your email associated with the student's Skyward account.
You will be prompted to create a password.

Once you have created an account, you can choose your notification preferences for general announcements & messages.
- You can choose to receive district and school communication via Email, Text, and/or App Notification.
- Each notification can be configured to send instantly, via a Digest (daily at 6 p.m.), or None (turn off Email, Text, or App Notifications)
- You may also configure your preferred language.
- Note: Emergency alerts cannot be turned off.

How does ParentSquare get its information

ParentSquare works with the information that you have entered into Skyward. The two programs sync data each day. It is very important to ensure your phone number and email address are correct in your Skyward account.

Q: Is ParentSquare free?

A: Yes! The app and the service are completely free for all families.

Q: Do I HAVE to use the app?

A: No. You can receive all information via email or text message. However, the app lets you view all classroom photos, sign permission slips, and message teachers directly through a much cleaner interface.

Q: Will I still get phone calls for emergencies?

A: Yes. For "Urgent Alerts" such as school closures or safety issues, the system will still use all available contact methods, including voice calls, to ensure you get the message.

Q: My contact information is wrong in the app. How do I fix it?

A: ParentSquare syncs with Skyward. To update your phone number or email, please contact your school's front office. Changes will appear in ParentSquare within 24 hours.

Q: I’m getting too many notifications. How do I make them stop?

A: You have control! In your account settings, you can choose Instant (receive messages the moment they are sent) or Digest (receive ONE summary email/text at 6:00 PM every evening with everything from that day).

Note: Urgent alerts (such as snow days) always bypass the Digest and arrive instantly.

Q: English is not my first language. Can I get messages in my native language?

A: Yes! ParentSquare supports over 100 languages. Go to Account > Preferences and select your preferred language. All future posts and messages from teachers will be automatically translated for you.

Q: How do I contact my child’s teacher?

A: Use the "Messages" tab. You can start a private, two-way conversation with any of your child’s teachers or school staff members—no personal phone numbers required.
