While summer is a great time for students to kick back and relax, MHS students in Thespian Troupe #1692 used a couple days of their break to learn more about their craft and connect with others with similar interests.

The group hosted the annual Indiana State Thespian Leadership Retreat on Aug. 6-7. The event created an opportunity for troupe directors and 75 students from a dozen schools across the state to participate in various workshops and advocacy activities.

Delegates also engaged with keynote speaker and professional Stage Manager J. Jason Dautner. Mr. Dautner, a 15-year veteran who previously worked on the Broadway production of “To Kill A Mockingbird” with Jeff Daniels, shared with students the trials and tribulations of being a strong leader in such a demanding industry.
